PERCUSSIVE FEET 2011 “Absolutely Remarkable, I was knocked out”

Brighton Festival Radio

Picture the impressive tap dance routines in a show like ‘Chicago’ or ‘Riverdance’. Strip away the glitzy costumes, plot lines and familiar tunes and what you’re left with is the infectious energy of ‘Percussive Feet’. Saxophonist Paul Booth is an incredible player and percussionist (and co-creator of ‘Stomp’), while Theseus Gerard provides stripped back and funky accompaniment that never overpowers the rhythms tapped out by dancers Lee Payne and Simeon Weedall. The playful competitiveness between these two was entertaining to watch, and the audience couldn’t help whooping and cheering as they pulled out some impressive moves. A great chance to see the raw fundamentals of tap dance up close and personal instead of twenty rows back in a West End theatre.

It is a show not to miss, with exhilarating tap dancing it is a night to remember.
